Dahlia Society March Meeting

Pot-o-Gold Pot Luck Luncheon

Join us for our festive March meeting as we celebrate the luck of the Irish with our annual Pot-o-Gold Pot Luck, beginning at 11:30am! Sign up to bring one of our St. Patrick's Day themed luncheon items or a themed item of your own imagination and help us fill our pot of gold with a feast fit for the finest dahlia growers this side of the Emerald Isle!

This year we are sure to be a true celebration of the season.  I am always left wondering what to bring so I have some lucky suggestions:  Appetizers to whet your appetite — think Smoked Salmon Cucumber Rounds, a Shamrock Cheese and Crackers Tray, a hearty Spinach Dip Bread Bowl, and Deviled Eggs dressed up with a festive green garnish. Warm up with a bowl of Potato Leek Soup or creamy Colcannon Chowder before diving into our show stopping main dishes: Corned Beef and Cabbage, Irish Beef Stew, Shepherd's Pie, and a rich Guinness Mushroom Pie. Round out your plate with sides like Roasted Root Vegetables, Creamy Cole Slaw, Dublin Coddle, and a crisp Green Salad with Cucumber and Avocado.

And of course, no Pot-o-Gold Pot Luck would be complete without dessert! Treat yourself to Baileys Chocolate Cake, Grasshopper Pie, Shamrock Sugar Cookies, Irish Soda Bread, or Mint Chocolate Brownies. Wash it all down with refreshing Limeade or Mint Iced Tea.

Sign up early to claim your dish — spots fill fast!  email your RSVP and the dish you will be bringing to verified.carolinasdahliasociety@gmail.com.

Educational Meeting — 12:30pm

Tuber Talk: Finding Eyes & Getting Ready for the Ground

After socializing over our festive feast, we'll transition into our educational session at 12:30pm. This month's focus is all about getting your dahlia tubers ready for the season ahead!

Bring any clumps of tubers you haven't yet divided. We'll work together to locate eyes, practice separating tubers, and discuss best practices for getting them into the ground. Whether you're a seasoned grower or newer to the process, this is a wonderful hands-on opportunity to sharpen your skills and gain confidence heading into planting season.

Tuber Exchange — Start Planning Now!

Interested in expanding your dahlia collection or sharing varieties you love? Members are encouraged to bring several copies of a list of tubers they have available, along with your contact information, to exchange with fellow members who may be searching for specific varieties. Use this opportunity to connect with other growers and arrange swaps before our upcoming Tuber Prep Meeting in April. Reach out to interested members ahead of time so you can come prepared and ready to trade!

We can't wait to share a wonderful meal, great conversation, and a season full of stunning dahlias with you. Erin go Bragh!
