Member Spotlight: Paula Fisher – Dahlia Hybridizer at Paula's Dahlias

This month, we’re excited to shine the member spotlight on Paula Fisher, who joined the Carolinas Dahlia Society in 2021 and has been a passionate grower and educator ever since.

Paula's dahlia journey began in 2020 when she started saving seeds from her fully double dahlias. With a deep curiosity for hybridizing, she meticulously evaluates each seed-grown dahlia for three years before selecting those worthy of further propagation. Her dedication and patience are paving the way for the first official release of Paula’s Dahlias in April 2026.

During our February Zoom meeting, Paula shared an outstanding presentation on taking cuttings after waking up tubers, offering valuable insights and expert techniques to help members maximize their dahlia production. Her enthusiasm and knowledge made for an engaging and educational session, and we are so grateful for her contributions to our society.

Thank you, Paula, for your passion, dedication, and generosity in sharing your expertise with our members. We can’t wait to see the incredible dahlias you introduce in the coming years!
