Health Update

Buddy Dean

Buddy Dean had lung surgery on 2/4/2020. Kelly Dean reported that the surgery took 4.5 hours and they removed an entire nodule that was cancerous. In the process a rib was fractured. She thanks everyone for thoughts and prayers.

UPDATE ON BUDDY DEAN:
Buddy is recovering from surgery and is home now. He had chest tubes removed today with next appointment on 3/2.

Tuber Sale by Email

Tubers will be available for pickup on 5/9, the same day we had planned the sale and at the same location. Payment will be collected at that time.

We have a good selection that we are offering at the same price as the past few years of five dollars per tuber. Plus we are offering a “Covid bakers dozen special” of thirteen tubers for fifty dollars.

Tuber Preparation

Time:

Attention: due to Covid-19 mandates and restrictions we will not be meeting at the Bullington Center this coming Saturday, as we had planned. We will be announcing our future plans as soon as possible. STAY SAFE!

May 9, 2020

Tuber Sale Pickup

Time:

We will open a 10 AM and will close at 12:00 noon.

Location:

Haywood County Cooperative Extension Building…589 Raccoon Rd. Waynesville, NC 28786.
There is no charge for parking.

Payment:

We ask that you have exact change or a check to the Carolina Dahlia Society. You will not even need to exit your vehicle; just give us your name and payment and we will hand you your order. Again, all sales will be preordered there will not be any shopping on this day.

Dahlia Storage Building Clean-up

Time:

If we can start about 9 AM then hopefully we can be finished about lunch time.

Location:

We have scheduled a day for a much needed clean out and to do some minor work on the storage building. We have been needing to do this for quite some time. The building was recently moved and is located at A 1 Storage…18330 Great Smoky Mountains Expressway…Waynesville, NC…28786. This is on Hwy 74 and is .8 mile from exit 98 westbound.

Social & Garden Tour

We hope to have a social time and possibly a garden tour at a yet to be determined location. More will be announced at a later date.

August 8, 2020

Judges Training and show prep

Tme: TBD

Location:

Meeting at Cashiers. We will post the address when more is known.

Note: you do not have to be a judge to attend and it is a good time to learn about staging and what to do at a show. Bring a bucket of blooms and we will have a mini show.

September 2020

Time:

9/17 We will meet at the show site at 1 PM and set up for the show.
9/18 Staging beginning at 9 AM until 8 PM if needed.
9/19 Judging will begin at 9 AM and will open to the public when finished.
9/20 Open to the public at 10 AM and we will begin tear down and clean up at 3 PM.
